This study investigated the changes in weight and body size indicators of Xinjiang brown cattle and meat brown cattle at different growth stages, providing a basis for cultivating beef brown cattle. The study focused on Xinjiang brown cattle and beef brown cattle cows aged 6-36 months raised in the Yili River Valley of Xinjiang.By comparing their weight, height, body length, chest circumference, tube circumference, and waist angle width, the differences between these two populations were analyzed. The results showed that throughout the entire growth period, the body weight and various body size indicators of beef brown cattle were higher than those of Xinjiang brown cattle.Chest circumference and body diagonal length reached significant (P<0.05) or extremely significant (P<0.01) difference at all stages, body height reached significant (P<0.05) difference at 24 and 36 months of age, waist angle width reached significant (P<0.05) difference at 36 months of age, tube circumference showed no significant difference at all stages, body weight reached significant (P<0.05) difference at 24 and 36 months of age,and daily weight gain reached significant (P<0.05) difference at 18-24 months of age.The analysis of the body size index of Xinjiang brown cattle and beef brown cattle at different growth stages showed that the body length index and chest circumference index of beef brown cattle were higher than those of Xinjiang brown cattle throughout the entire growth period, while the body mass index was generally higher in Xinjiang brown cattle, and the difference in tube circumference index between the two was not significant. In summary, compared with Xinjiang brown cattle, beef brown cattle have significantly increased in weight and body size indicators, and their body size indices has also been improved, effectively enhancing the meat potential of Xinjiang brown cattle. Therefore,it can be considered to develop meat brown cattle towards producing high-end beef. |
