This article investigates the current state of the dairy and beef cattle industry in Ethiopia, with an emphasis on breed diversity, milk and meat production levels, and import and export arrangements. The industry is confronted with a number of significant challenges, such as ineffective marketing systems, inadequate infrastructure and supply chains, low productivity of local varieties, and climate-related hazards. This article suggests intervention strategies to confront these obstacles and delineates the future prospects of the dairy and beef cattle industry. Furthermore, it recommends policy modifications and enhanced government assistance.
