This study conducts a comprehensive examination of the global development of gut microbiota research over the past 30 years by analyzing research papers in the Web of Science (WOS) Core Collection database and the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) database from 1992 to 2023. The search focused on keywords "gut microbiota" and "bovine gut microbiota," and employed Graph Pad Prism, VOSviewer, and Excel software to meticulously analyze variations in the number of publications and key terms in the global field of gut microbiota. The findings reveal that the United States and European countries dominate research in the field of gut microbiota, contributing a majority of high-quality publications and journals. Concurrently, there is a sustained growth trend in publications related to bovine gut microbiota over the past 30 years, with international attention primarily focused on the impact of microbiota on bovine growth and the relationship between microbiota and inflammation. The study highlights that despite significant progress in bovine gut microbiota research over the past three decades, the scope of research remains relatively narrow, indicating substantial untapped potential for future exploration. In conclusion, while considerable advancements have been made in gut microbiota research, there is a need for enhanced international collaboration, emphasis on research quality, and in-depth exploration of critical issues related to health and diseases. This comprehensive analysis provides valuable insights and prospects for future research on gut microbiota. |
